Anfield Iron Tommy Smith

Availability: Out of stock

Liverpool legend Tommy Smith won almost every honour football has to offer during his eighteen years at the club from 1960 to 1978.  Four league championships, two FA Cups, two UEFA Cups and two memorable triumphs in the European Cup, including a vital headed goal in the Reds' first ever victory in that competition in 1977.  He captained Liverpool for a number of seasons and was a key member of the great sides managed by first Bill Shankly and then Bob Paisley who once said, 'Tommy doesn't tackle opponents so much as break them down for resale as scrap.'

Despite his reputation as one of football's original hard men, Smith was uniquely tough but thoroughly fair, receiving just one red card and two bookings in his career, all for dissent.  In this fascinating autobiography, he gives us the inside story of a whole host of footballing legends, tells the story of the time before the game was all about the money and gives a unique perspective on the glory days of Liverpool FC.
